Let’s rewind… there has been a pub at No. 86 Duleek Street since the mid-1700s. Generations of Drogheda locals have pulled up a stool here, and while plenty has changed over the centuries, the welcome hasn’t. Today The Pheasant is a modern bar and grill with real history in its walls.

Our History

Our history hasn’t been without its characters… the most famous being a renowned eccentric known as The Barber, Thomas Callan. During World War 2, whenever the pub’s whiskey rations arrived, he closed the doors and drank the lot himself, reopening only once the supply had run dry and he’d sobered up. Come the next delivery, he did it all again, leaving his customers with nothing but beer. How things have changed: today we have one of the largest selections of spirits in the North-East.
